VarLoop
Collaboration Center for Accounting Software Professionals

Welcome AccountMate BP's!

Attachment.

UPDATE: Steve Morin has graciously offered to take over the management of this Loop. The Loop will continue on as is for now. Per Steve, there will be no charge for any renewals due in June. Congrats Steve!!!

This topic is being posted by Mike Walsh. As you may or may not know Cary Root, the group manager passed away in January. I worked with Cary for the past 27 years and purchased the company. The VarLoop is hosted on Groupsite which is raising their hosting costs and it no longer makes sense for us to keep this loop active without increasing subscription costs significantly. Perhaps as much as $50 per year per subscriber. This means paid memberships would increase from $120 per year to $170 per year. I am looking for someone who wishes to take over management of this site. If there is no interest, this site will be shut down in Jun 2023. Subscribers will be refunded for the unused portion of their membership. If interested, please contact Mike Walsh - mike@root-infotech.com or call our office at 440-349-5555. Thank you.

Welcome AccountMate Business Partners!

The official collaboration center for AM Business Partners will be right here at the VAR Loop.  I'm proud to be hosting it and look forward to some lively conversations!

Best,

- Cary

Said: Matt, what kind of customization is available in Spire? Most of our VP clients are still running it because they're heavily customized.
Said: With VFP9, there's a little more work to do. You have to turn off Windows themes (with a SYS() command) in order for the dialog boxes to work. without doing that, they still work, but the mouse wipes them out and you can't see where you...
Said: I re-compiled a VP2000 using VFP 9.0 for one client. Most of VP2000 worked after the recompile, but not everything. All of the reports had to be converted and tweaked. Menus were a problem. Some of the screens looked weird. But it worke...

Welcome to the next generation of the VAR Loop!

Why the change?  Read my blog post and I think you'll agree it was time.

The new VarLoop combines the most useful features of traditional websites, blogs, collaboration software and social networks, while maintaining the core features that have made it so convenient and powerful for its members over the past 20 years. That means you can still send an email to the group and it will be automatically distributed to the other members. Each member can still opt to receive every message as it's sent, or a periodic digest of messages.

The Loop is a meeting place that provides its members with a shared calendar, discussion forums, member profiles, photo gallery, file storage and more. We encourage you to upload your photo, complete your profile and participate!

Here's how to send an email message to the VarLoop.  Note that you must be a member for it to go through.  To reach the Pro Series and Vision Point Loop, send to loop@varloop.groupsite.com. To reach the AccountMate Loop, send to accountmate@varloop.groupsite.com.  For anything not related to either AccountMate or Pro/VP, send to other@varloop.groupsite.com.

If you are new to the Loop, then contact us by phone at 440-349-5555 or by email at info@Root-InfoTech.com to sign up.   The cost is $10 per month paid annually, to cover my costs.  Hope you enjoy it!!!

Best,

- Cary
